I have only made one piece of jewelry in my lifetime (so far). I call it the “Circle of Hope” pendant and 100% of proceeds from sales go to MentorCONNECT, the charity I run.
Check it out:
Here’s another view of the finished pendants with their pretty silk chains! I chose those myself.
Making the pendant was really fun – I came up with the design but I have ZERO training in jewelry making.
I asked around, one thing led to another, and a friend of a friend of a friend connected me with the sweet, lovely AND talented Sue Barkann of Sue B. Designs in San Francisco.
The really fun thing about this story is that I had just finished reading one of my all-time favorite books, Elizabeth Gilbert’s “Eat, Pray, Love” (LOOOOVE the book – the movie not so much) and I was totally wanting to go to Bali.
Guess where Sue’s jewelry designers lived and worked? Yup. Bali.
So the “Circle of Hope” pendant comes to you courtesy of Balinesian artisans (the chains come to you courtesy of eBay….not quite so exotic there).
Here’s hoping I’ll get to make more jewelry soon. I love vision boards, so let’s just consider this page a place-holder for my artistic aspirations! And if you make jewelry and have any hints or tips I’d love to hear from you:
