When I was still healing from my eating disorder, I didn’t talk much. I couldn’t. I wasn’t sure which voice was mine. But I could always find what I wanted to say in songs.
If it wasn’t for music I don’t know if I would have made it.
Just a handful of the awesome tune-makers who make me want to dance (trust me you don’t want to see this), cry, laugh, and sing along:
STING! (first dibs if he ever leaves the love of his life, Trudie Styler)
Adele
Ocean Lab
Nickel Creek
Imogen Heap (can i pleeeze see you in concert???)
Martin Page
Morgan Page (no relation to Martin)
Maroon 5 (AWESOME in concert)
The Weepies
Bob Schneider (he used to date Sandra Bullock)
Tim O’Brien (my mandolin mentor – that’s a whole other story!)
Deva Premal
Massive Attack (David I still miss you)
Duran Duran
and of course…..The King of Pop
Btw, I also write songs myself.
I co-wrote my first song, “Babbling Brook and Brave Buffalo” (a tribute to my American Indian heritage) with my dad when I was 8. I was hooked….been writing ever since.
Kudos:
